MPS TRADITIONAL AND COMPLIMENTARY MEDICINE 1
MPS shall be conducting a workshop on T&CM at Wisma MPS. Some of the topics include Update on Law & Regulations of T&CM, Principles of Chinese Medicines / Herbal Medicines, Herbs with Therapeutic Claims and Principles of Acupuncture.

POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN DIABETES MANAGEMENT AND EDUCATION PROGRAMME (PGDME)
The International Medical University has developed the PGDME with the objective of enhancing skills of healthcare professionals working with people with diabetes. This includes pharmacists in clinical, community and retail setting.
In line with the programme?s objective and also MPS? aim to uphold and enhance the standard and ethics of the profession, it is a pleasure to inform that the IMU bursary supports the professional development of pharmacists who work with people with diabetes in Malaysia by providing a special 20% discount on tuition fees for MPS members
The PGDME can be completed within 1 year as a full-time student or within a maximum period of 3 years as a part-time student. It also requires only 1 week face to face session at IMU per semester and online self-learning. There is no end-of-semester examination and students will be assessed via a 100% in-course activities that include individual assignments, group activities and face-to-face assessments.
The programme is currently open for registration of its second intake of students in July 2019.
The programme is accredited by MQA - KPT/JPT(N/726/7/0030)02/2023. The graduate will be holding the Postgraduate Diploma in Diabetes Management and Education programme.
MPS will verify the membership upon the candidate signing sign up for the program.
14th MPS - PHARMACY SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE / INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PHARMACEUTICAL RESEARCH AND PHARMACY
The MPS will be co-organising the 14th MPS-Pharmacy Scientific Conference this year jointly with the International International Islamic University from 19-20th Oct 2019. It will be held in conjunction with the International Conference on Pharmaceutical Research and Pharmacy.
Abstracts and accepted full article will be published in the Journal of Pharmacy and BioAllied Sciences (SCOPUS - indexed)
The theme is Drug Utilisation Research in the Era of Big Data.
Renowned speakers have been invited to share their knowledge including oversea speakers from Sweden, Australia, Indonesia including renowned local speakers

CMEd SILVER ACCREDITED PHARMACIST
Introducing the next level of CMEd Accredited pharmacist - Silver
This CMEd course is to will allow pharmacists to be more confident in providing reliable advice and effective treatments, enhancing knowledge and evidence-informed complementary medicine that improve the wellbeing of patients and the success of practice.
Online modules available include: Muscle and Joint Health, Immune Health, Eye Health, Women?s Health and Heart and Circulation Health. It includes interactive digital content, condition information sheets with podcasts and videos.
Pre-qualification to participate: To have completed the entire CMEd Bronze blended programme that was started last year.
After completing the online module, you can qualify to participate in the Bronze Masterclass.
CMEd Bronze Masterclass (Virtual): 29th June 2019, from 10am - 12pm: Fees: RM80 ( Pre-requisite: completed online module)
CMEd Silver Masterclass (face-to-face): 21st Sep 2019, from 9.30am - 1.00pm at Wisma MPS; fees RM159/-. However scholarship of RM100 is available for the 1st 50 completed learners. (Pre-requisite: completed the Bronze programme - both online module and Masterclass)

3rd NATIONAL PAEDIATRIC PHARMACY MEETING
Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society, in collaboration with the Pharmaceutical Services Division of the Ministry of Health will be organizing the 3rd National Paediatric Pharmacy Meeting on 24rd-25th July 2019 at Le Meridien, Putrajaya
The theme of the Conference is Child Health: We Share, We Care & We Prevent.
The aims of this conference are as follows:
- To deliver the most recent updates in vaccines and immunization
- To share knowledge about childhood skin diseases
- To promote sharing of experiences and research findings in pediatric practice
For your information, there will be scientific exhibition, series of plenaries, and other lectures.
In conjunction with this, there will be a one-day pre-conference: Thalassemia Adherence Management Workshop held on the 23rd July 2019 as a sequel to the 2nd NPPM event held in 2017. This pre-conference workshop will focus on sharing challenges and exploring different management in Thalassemia among adult and pediatric patients. This is hope to build pharmacists? confidence in managing Thalassemia patient especially in improving patient?s adherence to therapy.
Attendance is expected from government hospitals / health clinics, private hospitals, university hospitals and community pharmacies.
PAHANG PHARMACY CONFERENCE 2019

COMPREHENSIVE DIABETIC WORKSHOP 2019 - PENANG
MPS Penang Area, MCPG Northern Region and MPS YPC Penang Area are proud to organise the first Northern Region - Comprehensive Diabetes Workshop with the aim of nurturing more pharmacists in various sectors to become DMTAC accredited pharmacists. Through this workshop, pharmacists are given the first exposure to DMTAC management and its accreditation process by our renowned speakers. We are also honoured to have the support by Malaysian Academy of Pharmacy (MAP) for this event.
Besides lectures, participants can learn to practise DMTAC from various case studies and also have the opportunity to do hands on and role plays to enhance the understanding on proper administration of insulins and counselling on diabetic medications. Furthermore, there are some exciting booths outside the hall for the participants to view and win interesting prizes.

The MPS Hospital Pharmacy Chapter shall be organising a visit to the Hospital Duchess of Kent, Sandakan form 12-14 July 2019
OBJECTIVE OF THE VISIT:
- To visit the Hospital Duchess of Kent in Sandakan
- To gain insight of the healthcare provision in Sabah as it also needs to serve the immigrants population in addition to the existing local population.
- To foster networking and fellowship amongst hospital pharmacists
- Casual Chit Chat sessions to discuss on hospital pharmacy & leadership issues
