REQUIREMENT OF CPD POINTS FOR PHARMACISTS IN ANNUAL CERTIFICATE APPLICATION
Kindly note that all pharmacists are encouraged to achieve a minimum of 20 CPD points starting from 2019 for the purpose of renewal of the Annual Certificate for the year 2021 ( application to be made in year 2020)
For the Annual Certificate 2020 to be applied this year the points can be from the year 2018.
The compulsory requirement will not be implemented yet until relevant sections in the Pharmacist Act 1951 has been amended and that can be quite soon.
The requirement for minimum 20 CPD points is in line with the decision by the National CPD Committee on 9th Aug 2018 and further endorsed by the Malaysian Pharmacy Board on 25th Sep 2018.
MPS MEMBERSHIP CARD / CERTIFICATE OF MEMBERSHIP
Earlier in the year the MPS website has been added in a feature for members to download their membership card onto their handphone or printed out.
A recent added feature is that now members can download their membership certificate at the same site. The feature can be accessed by clicking at the instructions just below the membership card
There is a QR code next to the membership card on the website. It is for future use whereby it is possible for the cpd event organiser to scan the code to register your presence at the event
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE NEW DIRECTOR OF PHARMACY BOARD MALAYSIA
The Council and Members of the Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society would like to congratulate Yg Berusaha Puan A'tia Binti Hashim on her appointment as the new Director of Malaysian Pharmacy Board.
Puan A'tia was previously the State Pharmacist for Perlis. She has served the government service since graduating from USM and also holds a Master degree in Clinical Pharmacy
YB PUAN ALICE LAU APPOINTED NEW NIOSH CHAIRMAN
The Council and Members of Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society would like to extend our CONGRATULATIONS to YB Pn Alice Lau on the appointment as Chairperson of the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.
As we know, pharmacists have a role to play with regards to the safety and health of workers in the country. One of the pharmacists' roles is in a smoking cessation programme for the workforce as smoking is consider as a health hazard involving non communicable diseases. Pharmacists are also involved in wellness programme like weight management, diabetes and other health monitoring activities.
We are confident that with YB's appointment, the occupational safety and health of workers and premises in the country will be well look after with significant improvements.
YB Lau is a pharmacist by profession, and is a two-term MP for Lanang, Sarawak. The appointment to serve is from 1st Oct 2019 - 20 Sep 2022.
ICPRP CUM 14TH IIUM-MPS PHARMACY SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE 2019
It is happening this weekend at Hotel Istana from 19-20th Oct 2019. Organised by the Kulliyah of Pharmacy of the International Islamic University Malaysia, IIUMMC, Universitas Islam Indonesia and the Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society, the Conference will see several international speakers from Sweden, Australia, Indonesia, including renown local speakers from various universities.
The theme Drug Utilisation Research in the Era of Big Data is a contemporary topic and drew participants locally as well as from overseas.

- Complete the 7 Bronze online modules
- Register with MPS for Masterclass and make payment
- Attend the Bronze Virtual Masterclass and graduate
INTRODUCTION OF VACCINATION FOR PHARMACISTS
The Malaysian Academy of Pharmacy has developed an online module on Introduction of Vaccination for Pharmacists. On completion of this module, participant can claim up to 8 CPD points by the usual way, that is login to the member cpdonline and record the achievement.

The public engagement is to share the proposal of new regulatory requirements' on Traditional Medicines and Health Supplements. The main objectives for the new requirements are:
- To introduce desktop assessment on Traditional Medicines and Health Supplements following from equivalency issue of GMP evidence/ guidance issued by National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency.
- To outsource the pre- registration testing for natural product (both imported and local products) to manufacturers' laboratories and panel laboratories listed by National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency, in order to strengthen the post marketing surveillance testing activities
Affected stakeholders are Traditional Medicines and Health Supplements Industries
